to a poor child today! Meeting daily needs for food, water and shelter are so much of a struggle for most poor families that they've given up on the hope of educating their children. As a result, poor parents unintentionally perpetuate a cycle of illiteracy and poverty, and it plagues their families for generations. Each scholarship provides a Christian education to a child in need for a full school year – something these boys and girls could never achieve without your help. Clerge, shown here, is an 11-year-old Haitian boy whose family is very poor. Because of their financial situation, his parents could not educate him, but thanks to a generous donor, Clerge received a scholarship to attend a Divine Shelter School and very quickly became a top student in his class. His God-given potential is finally being realized! Clerge loves doing homework, excels in math, and wants to be a doctor when he grows up. When we asked Clerge the reason he chose medicine, his answer was adorable— he wants to take care of his teacher!
